Photographic tour 6 villages 6 exhibitions 1 main theme

The 6×6 photography festival, created in 2021, takes place every summer in the six communes of Haut-Lignon. This unique event showcases the talent of photographers, both contemporary and historical, and explores a variety of themes: water, rural life, the milk route, women’s perspectives, etc.

5th Edition here in the distance from 27 June to 24 August 2025

ICI AU LOIN, is the title of a book by Pentti Sammallahti published by Actes Sud (2012) HERE What does it mean to live on this Plateau, to be born here, to work here, to love here, to grow old here, but also to cross it, to travel through it? What does the Plateau, the company, the family, faith, the team and solitude have to do with people, those who live and work here, but also those who are just passing through for a walk or a visit? IN what way is it possible to establish a parallel with other places that are not so far removed from our Alpine regions?

The 5ème parcours photographique du Haut-Lignon features images rich in bias: documentary, testimonial or inventive. The singular gaze of the photographers invited underlines the universality of our être-au-monde on the Vivarais-Lignon plateau. Finnish artist Pentti Sammallahti’s polar landscapes and American artist Lucian Perkins’s Ozarks plateau are not so foreign to our Alpine or Ardèche landscapes.

The Festival

Through its artistic offerings, 6×6 offers a unique perspective on essential subjects. The 6×6 Photography Festival route makes each village in the Haut Lignon an exhibition venue, and therefore a place to discover an artist. As a result, the Festival offers a wide variety of venues and exhibitions. Some of the exhibitions are set up outside, allowing visitors to enjoy the photographs at any time of day, in a natural and picturesque setting. This variety of exhibition venues creates a unique artistic experience, combining local heritage and photographic art. Website:http://www.6x6photos-hautlignon.fr The selection of photographers for the 6×6 festival is a skilful blend of the great names in photography, both past and present, and up-and-coming local artists. This photographic journey through the Haut Lignon offers a rich diversity of artistic approaches and visual perspectives. The works presented reflect a variety of styles and themes, illustrating the depth and diversity of the photographic medium. Under the expert guidance of the members of the six-commune selection committee, each artist is chosen for his or her ability to captivate and provoke reflection, making the festival a must-see event for lovers of photography and culture.
