Stroll On the banks of the Lignon

  3. From volcano to river
  4. Le Lignon, river and lakes
  5. The concordia trail

A 6 km walk through the village of Le Chambon-sur-Lignon and along the banks of the Lignon: the Concordia trail.

You’ll discover the lower part of the village, the oldest quarters including a thatched cottage, and some 17th-century houses. Between nature and village, this tour is ideal for families, couples or lovers. Whether you arrive on board the historic Velay Express railroad, or after a meal in one of our restaurants, we recommend this little hike!

First of all, you’ll need to go to the Tourist Office at 2 route de Tence, where you can pick up a free description of the walk.

The route is not signposted, so be sure to follow the signs!
From the Tourist Office, walk down the route du Mazet towards the church, then immediately left into the rue de la Grande Fontaine. This takes you away from the village’s narrow streets and along the banks of the Lignon.

And there’s a change of atmosphere as soon as you walk along the river!
You’re likely to spot wild ducks, wagtails and, depending on the season, daffodils and dragonflies….

After crossing the footbridge at La Plage, you enter the Magnac forest on the Chemin du Bois de Jean. Softwoods, hardwoods and river views await you.

Return to the lower part of Le Chambon-sur-Lignon, the original village built on the banks of the Lignon.

Between the chemin du Paoulou and the chemin du Pouzaro, you pass between the temple and the church, then the Lieu de Mémoire before returning to the starting point.
